Seven learners of our matric class form part of the Media 24 initiative Rachel’s Angels This is a mentorship programme which has been operating since 2007 in the Western Cape in association with the University of Stellenbosch. The programme aims to improve grade 11 and 12 learners’ academic abilities and to enrich their life skills by involving senior students from the university as mentors. Gansbaai Academia is very proud that our school were selected to be part of this elite program.
As part of this mentorship, our Angels were involved in a market day held in Jamestown, Stellenbosch on the 27th April, 2013. They excelled by winning the “Theme of the Market day Competition “ against stiff competition from many other schools. The grade ten learners earmarked for participating in the programme next year accompanied them to the event and a great time was had by all.
