Academia plays first cricket match

History was made on the 21st February 2011 when the under 19 cricket team played their first match ever against Swartberg Secondary School in Caledon.

The match was a 25 limited overs match and Academia was sent in to bat. Academia managed to score 76 runs, due mainly to Selvyn Grove’s innings of 32 runs. They did not have enough runs on the board and although their bowlers, with Ashwill Hickley (3 wickets) and Leonardo Marthinus (2 wickets) the stars, tried their best, Swartberg won in the end.

Our thanks goes to Francois De Jongh for donating a scorebook and to Gansbaai Cricket Club for supplying us with the cricket kit.
